SIERRA LEONE PLASTIC WASTE RECYCLING PROJECT PROPOSAL

SHOUT CLIMATE CHANGE AFRICA (SCCA) is a Non-Governmental, non-political, non-ethnical, non-racial Organization that encourages all to “SHOUT NOW OR NEVER” on climate change issues that may affect us all; formed two years ago; that is made up of scores of professional of various expertise that work with other Organisations, Communities, NGOs, Institution, Companies, Governmental MDA etc. in providing services that addresses climate change environmental problems and related issues. Since its creation, SCCA has undertaken some four environmental related assignments working with the local radios, televisions and newspapers  and other organisation in address community climate change environmental and related concerns.  Key among them was transforming communities from depositing refuse dumps in drainages, support and encouraged communities to contribute and prioritise tree planting and reforestation activities; renewable energy usage to fossil fuels and toward decentralised community-owned and controlled sustainable energy. Shout Climate Change Africa is an independent campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviors of individuals, to protect, conserve the environment and promote peace

SCCA has a well-structured management system; it operates from a coordinating center in Freetown, with personnel in the Regional headquarters and hopes to have Focal Persons in all districts in Sierra Leone

Over the years, the effect of climate change has greatly affected the coastal communities of Freetown especially the Goderich to Lakkah areas. Sustainable Development Goal 13 requires “Climate Action” since inaction will have a direct consequence on non-development of communities that are affected thereby encourage the circle of poverty.

To undertake “Climate Action” according to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 requires solving those problems that are posed by climate change.

The rampant and indiscrimate deposition of plastic waste in Sierra Leone especially on the streets of the cities and big town are not only eyesore but also heavily polluting the drainages and our waters.

As the World including Sierra Leone continues to be greatly affected by Climate Change and Environment disasters there is a dare need to address this issue.

The recently adopted United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), urges nations to adopt measures that will combat Climate Change, Protect the Environment and Conserve the forest to save lives through strong policy formulation and implementation.

It is against this background that SCCA is submitting a proposal on sustainable management of plastic waste so as to prevent the disasters associated with them

Detailed of the full project document has been developed and will be made available to you if you are interested in funding SCCA to implement the project.
